Brian Flinn is in sixth season with Princeton in 2024.
Luke Colella and AJ Barber were part of 10 All-Ivy selections following the 2023 season for Princeton after the duo set new career marks. Andrei Iosvias also caught four touchdowns in his rookie season with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The 2022 season saw Princeton go 8-2 and be in contention for the Ivy League title into the final week of the regular season. The Tigers had 16 All-Ivy selections tied for second-most at Princeton since 2013. The Tigers had the No. 1 passing offense (274.2) and No. 2 scoring offense (27.6) in the Ivy League helped by Andrei Iosivas and Dylan Classi's First-Team All-Ivy selections. Iosivas and Classi finished first and second in the Ivy League in receptions and yards. Iosivas ended his Princeton career ranked sixth all-time in receiving yards (1,909), 12th in receptions (125), and third in touchdown catches (16). Classi ended his Princeton career ranked fifth all-time in receiving yards (2,141), seventh in receptions (137), and eighth in touchdown receptions (11).
Iosivas was later drafted by the Bengals in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Princeton went 9-1 and earn an Ivy League title, its third in five seasons in 2021. The Tigers had 16 All-Ivy selections including 10 first-team honorees, a program record. The offense ranked first in the Ivy League in scoring (33.4), second in passing offense (265.5), second in passing efficiency (147.0) and third in total offense (392.4). Flinn had three wide outs earn All-Ivy honors in Jacob Birmelin (who led the league in receptions), Iosivas and Classi. During his first season in 2019, Flinn helped Birmelin to second-team All-Ivy accolades following a 60-catch season. Andrew Griffn was also a CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-American.
During his 14 years as wide receivers' coach at Villanova prior to Princeton, Flinn had produced a steady stream of all-conference performers. His most notable honoree was Matt Szczur, the Most Outstanding Player in the 2009 FCS national championship game, which Villanova won 23-21. Szczur was the CAA Football Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 and a consensus first-team All-American. Villanova went to FCS playoffs seven times during Flinn's tenure, reaching the semifinals twice, the quarterfinals three times along with the 2009 title.
A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Flinn arrived at Villanova from Eastern Illinois where he served as an assistant coach from 2002-05. In 2002, Eastern Illinois won the OVC crown and made the FCS playoffs. Flinn also has coaching experience at the University of Maryland (graduate assistant, 2001-02) where the Terrapins won the ACC and reached the Orange Bowl, Drake University (wide receivers, 2000), and Mount Union College (linebackers, 1999/wide receivers, 1998).
As a player, Flinn was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference tight end at Mount Union College where he was part of the Division III National Championship teams in 1993 and 1996 (where he served as a captain). While at Mount Union, he earned a double major in Business Administration and Philosophy in 1997.
