Hicks moved on to earn a spot on the practice squad for the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Commanders and played professional arena football with the Albany Firebirds in 1999.

Hicks came back to Susquehanna Township High School in 1999 to work as a defensive line coach and later served as the coach for Bishop McDevitt High School in 2009. Hicks was able to help McDevitt win six district championships.
